| Overall objectives: |
- Research, develop and trial a novel, 2-channel, implantable stimulator to enhance locomotion in patients with a dropped foot, a chronic condition experienced especially by patients who have suffered a stroke.

| Our objectives: |
- Collaborate with Roessingh Research & Development, The Netherlands, to design, develop, test and trial a novel 2-channel implantable dropped foot stimulator (now known as the STIMuSTEP ®).
|
| Our achievements: |
- Succesfully trialled the dropped foot system in both The Netherlands and UK.
- Developed:
- implantable button electrode
- implantable 2-channel inductively coupled receiver (stimulator)
- reduced diameter Cooper cable (implantable cable)
- external controller

- MedLINK (M181) project.
- Part funded by DTI - Department of Trade and Industry, United Kingdom.
