|
|
| Overall objectives: |
- The project aimed to utilise modified Finetech implants to investigate the use of neuromodulation, low level electrical stimulation, of the sacral nerve roots as a treatment for spasticity in spinal cord injured patients.
- The aim was to have developed a full prototype device with regulatory approval by the end of the two year project.
|
| Our objectives: |
- Gain an understanding of the effectiveness of neuromodulation as a means of treating spasticity in spinal cord injured patients with a view to potentially incorporating such a program into future bladder stimulator systems.
|
| Our achievements: |
- Better understanding of neuromodulation as a treatment for spasticity.
- Guidance as to appropriate stimulation parameters for neuromodulation.
|
| Project information: |
- MedLINK and EPSRC funded project.
- 3 partners, all in the UK.
- £250k project fund.
- Duration: 24 months.
